Which spinal injections are best for me?

To find out if you’re a candidate for spinal injections, Dr. Buttar reviews your symptoms and medical history with you. He completes a physical exam, and may order blood tests, X-rays, CT scans, MRIs, or other imaging procedures before making a diagnosis.

Which spinal injections are available?

Some of the many spinal injections available include:

EPIDURAL STEROID INJECTIONS:

These injections help to reduce spinal inflammation, pain and help with quicker healing.

Examples includes Cervical epidural steroid injections to alleviate neck pain, caudal steroid injections to reduce lower back pain relief, lumbar transforaminal epidural steroid injections for back pain relief, sacroiliac joint steroid injections for sacro-iliac pain relief, and thoracic epidural steroid injections for mid-back pain relief.

The practice offers RACZ caudal neurolysis that uses an anesthetic and steroids to diminish painful scarring.

Your spine specialists use epidural injections that contain anesthetic to relieve spine pain. Examples include lumbar sympathetic blocks, other nerve blocks, facet joint injections to reduce neck and back pain, and more.

RADIOFREQUENCY ABLATION THERAPY (RFA/RHIZOTOMY):

Radiofrequency ablation uses heat to diminish pain signals. Dr Buttar offers lumbar radiofrequency rhizotomy, cervical facet radiofrequency rhizotomy, and thoracic facet radiofrequency rhizotomy to alleviate spinal discomfort.

Intradiscal electrothermal therapy (IDET):

During IDET, your spine specialist repairs discs using a catheter and a special temperature-controlled device.

Vertebroplasty:

During vertebroplasty, your spine specialist uses special cement to repair spine fractures and the pain they cause.

Right before each spinal injection, Dr. Buttar and his staff numb the treatment area to eliminate discomfort. They can also offer a sedative to help you feel more relaxed. Dr. Buttar uses Flouroscopic image guidance to ensure he injects the right areas within or near your spine to provide the superior pain relief you desire.
